Journalism is an important tool for communication and knowledge sharing. We are more curious than before and have access to more information and technology. Yet we still find ourselves in a divisive quagmire; attempting to decipher the vast amounts of information provided to us. Using credible sources for gathering information and verification is important. But the way we are able to construct an accurate image and narrative using that information is even more important.
Social media, wikis, opensource journalism sites, virtual reporting, free higher ed courses and data analytics are all examples of tools used by researchers and journalists. By providing these sources we can then engage in a lively dialogue and more clearly understand the topics at hand.
